What is Room Integrity Testing?

Room integrity testing is required when installing a Gas Fire Suppression System in your home or business to guarantee that if a fire should occur, the room is contained enough to allow the system to be sufficient. Even after installation, room integrity testing should be continuously carried out to ensure your Gas Fire Suppression System can work effectively to suppress a fire. This is a legal requirement under the independent regulators ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) and ISO 12520 and NFPA 2001 highlight the laws around room integrity testing. 

The method for room integrity testing is similar to an air pressure test and is used to calculate the leakage rate of the fire suppressant gas in a Gas Fire Suppression System. The process involves monitoring the air pressure in the room as it increases and recording the differential pressure at each increase, which measures the amount of fire retardant gas that would escape.
